Yet, it took a much more obscure item, contaminated wheat gluten, to focus U.S. public attention on a very real and frightening fact: China's chronic food safety woes are now a global concern.

It's not just this; I've often wondered about other things ... like getting oh say, army uniforms from China :-), other things. We are so gung-ho about security, so IMHO anything security-related ought to be manufactured and developed ONLY in this country.
