I disagree with the trainer and the buddy routine. First of all a trainer will cost you extra money and will only be of use if you really want to bulk up. Any exercise book will give you training regimens that you can choose to fit your style. The buudy route is not a good idea either. If your buddy quits chances are you will to. You ask yourself who am I doing this for. Myself or my buddy. If the answer is yourself then you don't need a buddy to exercise with. Depending on the results you are looking for, in just a few months you will begin to feel better, physically and mentally. This alone should keep you doing it.

my motivation to work out 5 days a week is health related - i used to weigh 305lbs, take pills for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and blood sugar control. i take nothing now.

no one can motivate you other than yourself, even the specter of an early death & what that would mean for my family was not a motivator. one day i just decided to loose weight (2003) and "poof" here i am. just like that... your motivation will come, it just depends on the timing...

My personal motivator: The MIRROR The mirror provides all the feedback I need! I'm not fat but my belly sticks out. Since working out I've seen changes. I have a personal GOAL of looking good at the beach this summer. I also have a home gym in my living room that I love working out on that also helps.

To sum it up, what you really need is a personal motivator, a goal, and the mirror.

are any of your regimens criticized by family members or friends as time consumming - time stealing - compulsiveness?
