Ear candling is dangerous if a person have any injury to the eardrum or the ear canal.

You just as easily could say cotton swabs are dangerous if a person punctures an ear drum or inserts the tip into the ear canal.

I've used ear candles for a few years. I like to do it every couple months. If you aren't a moron, it works quite well, and it only takes a few minutes. If you are a moron, I suppose you might be dumb enough to let it burn down to your hair or "get it stuck in your ear." You'd have to be especially stupid to jam it in your ear, though. Right, Ricky?

I always leave enough candle left that I can cut open what's left and see the wax it pulled out. Works better than pouring peroxide in your ear and way better than any cotton swab.

If it's done properly, it's the safest way to clear the ear canals of wax buildup, works for me.

Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna do it anymore.

I had a head cold a few weeks ago, which I got over, was feelin' good - then I candled my ears. The next day the damn cold came back and I've been fightin' it off again since.

According to my children's doctor, you shouldn't try to remove wax from the ear in the first place. It is there to protect the inside of the ear from outside contaminates. It comes out on its own. Only a doctor should remove anything from inside the ear.

I inquired about coning once, because I knew someone who performed the practice for a living. I was skeptical about it then. (My kids had ear problems, and my information comes from a specialist.)
