Thanks Geniusbeauty! Good article...Although I am not sure diets excluding animal proteins(that is, meat),are extremely dangerous. May be I am wrong. But you can always find iron somewhere else! Be vegetarian is not only a diet but above all a manner of living!

It's not iron in animal protein that is so important you can take an iron supplement but it's getting all the amino acids your body needs is the problem for vegetarians. Animal protein contains all amino acids needed by your body but you have to combine several vegetable and grain source and eat a lot of it to get all the complete amino acids needed by your body. It's lots easier to eat meat or fish.

It's not how much you eat but what you are eating.

So cutting down on all fatty foods and you could have snacks throughout the day like yoghurts, fruits, etc.

Hmmmmm...not going to a doctor first is a dieting "mistake"...? Whoever wrote the article seems unaware that doctors are not trained in nutrition and do not have the background or training to advise on the nutrition that our bodies require. They receive perhaps a total of 2 weeks training regarding nutrition in their entire education... One merely needs to use some common sense, or speak to anyone else with common sense, or even do a search on the internet to find out an overly restrictive low/calorie diet isn't healthy... not going to a doctor is a very poor item to include as a reason for diet failure.

Ever heard of nutritionists?

anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist". the experts on weight loss and nutrition are registered dietician. An RD is obligated to only use evidence based science for recommendations. A nutritionist can give you phony information without risk of consequence on their own behalf. Beware of "nutritionist" look for the credential RD.

Do you see the word nutritionist in the article...?

Also, the statement that you can loose "flesh" while dieting is simply not the case. It is not flesh one loses, but muscle, if one does not maintain an adequate protein intake while modifying their diet. This is because the body has no storage mechanism for protein other than muscle and if caloric intake is too low, the body will scavange protein from its own muscles for fuel.

...and how is not going to a nutritionist a "cause" of diet failure...? One merely needs to use some common sense, or speak to anyone else with common sense, or even do a search on the internet to find out an overly restrictive low/calorie diet isn't healthy... not going to a doctor is a very poor item to include as a reason for diet failure.

I go to the gym 4-5 days a week and eat pretty much anything I want. I usually don't pig out and eat too much but when I'm hungry I do eat.

I avoid "junk" food like chips and soda but I do enjoy pizza. Usuall lots of meat, green olives and garlic. Pizza is a good balanced meal tho it is high in fat.

Other then that I make chicken stir fry at home and when I make chicken I cook it in olive oil, it's more expensive but so good for you.

It really isn't that difficult to lose weight, if you've set your mind to it. Three years ago, I needed to lose weight. This is what I did to drop 50 pounds over a period of four months...

I started eating wheat bran cereal in the morning, peanut butter on whole grain bread for lunch, and salad for dinner. The salad I prepared was filled with veggies like cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, celery, broccoli, etc.. With salad, unless you douse it with dressing, you can eat as much of it as you like. Then, every time I felt the urge to snack, I'd eat strawberries.

I stopped eating cookies, ice cream and processed snack foods like potato chips. I haven't eaten at a fast food restaurant in three years either.

Once I'd lost what I wanted to lose, I gradually began adding things to my diet such as: broiled fish or chicken, elk meat, and of course, I took vitamins the whole time too.

I've kept the weight off all this time, by not returning to my old eating habits. I take smaller portions and feel satisfied, and I do allow myself to have a couple of cookies when I bake for my family, but I don't go over-board. You have to learn moderation.

Another thing that helped me tremendously is shifting my thought pattern away from focusing on being fat (losing weight) to getting healthier. Instead of looking at food as being fattening or unfattening, I looked at it as healthy or unhealthy. I made my goal to be healthy, not skinny, and the weight came off.
