There are two types of diabetes, including Type I and Type II. Type I diabetes occurs when the immune system attacks the cells in the body that form insulin.

    The real tragedy is that there is SO much we can do to help avoid, and moderate the disease in so many cases. Sure, that's not true 100% of the time -- genetics play a part to be certain. But you cannot ignore the role of lifestyle, exercise, diet and nutrition in the development of Type 1 Diabetes.

    Here's a *really* good resource I found for understanding where the typical American diet falls short on the necessary minerals and vitamins we need to help keep this disease at bay, at the Dietary Supplement Information Bureau. They offer a lot of health tips, and more importantly, a lot of safety information regarding vitamins and their dosage.

    Aside from the American Diabetes Association (another excellent resource!), what other online tools are people using?
