Yes it is extremely difficult to quit as most of us never want to admit we are addicted to the drug nicotine.

I quit over 13 years ago the old fashioned way no planning no pharmaceutical aids. Simply out and a cold February evening and I didn't want to go out to buy more. Said to myself this might be a good time to quit and that was the end of it. Yep I spent almost a year fighting urges and desires, but never gave in and day by day they became less of a problem to ignore.

I did find one aid about 10 days in that was absolutely critical to me. If found a Usenent Newsgroup called ALT.SUPPORT.STOP-SMOKING (knows as AS3). The good people there kept reminding me that I was not alone and everything I felt and dealt with was common to almost everyone else there. That kind of support did smooth the sharp edges as I read their comments over and over again.

It is tough to do but if you need to and accomplish this change in lifestyle you will feel great about yourself.
